Growing Up

Signs of never growing up -the little girl is obstinate
Like the primate- proverbial,
Holding tight, clutched palms, closed eyes,
screaming that she can’t be denied.
Try holding her hand, make  her understand,
She rebels like the Wiccan of lore.
“I can never be wrong, and I can never be denied”, she yells.
Pretty face she has, sweet little woman, but ......pride!
Alas, signs of never growing up!

:-) I am smiling you know why? these are typical girls' behavior. They want to be pampered, made feel important, wanted and cared for.

We are girls after all :) Dont want to grow up. Its nice this way Anil :-)

Pride goes before the fall…
But at times, it s Ms Pride and that makes a huge difference when the fall happens :P

Yes indeed, if it is a girl that never grows up well I agree with you , a bit of banter and tantrums are fine. But when it is a woman who claims to be educated and cultured, but lives with hubris ?

Thank you.
Inspiration, a blogger

@ Deeps,
I do not know about the fall. Only hope that the protagonist learns without falling

Growth - we are talking about mental growth - it is difficult to define that. There will always be elements of child and adult in all of us - sometimes one will show up, sometimes another. One is never fully grown up.

@ Balchandran,

Literally meaning!
And it tells when we are faced with a situation where we realise that our held views may be shaky , but still we want to hold them fast against reason?
Inst growth also willingness to accept the fallibility in all of us?

Anil,
The moment I read it,I guessed from where you got the inspiration!
Boys also can grow up!

@ Doc antony,

Yes boy can grow up.
But old men degenerate.
In fact .

You stumped the wicket!

@ doc antony,

Oh no doc, no stumping. And no need to run to the third umpire ha .

I guess towards the later part of life we become more of a child?

Wow! Thats a wonderful poem. I am glad that you got inspired! Yes, Pride does come before a fall! But I can assure you that for one who is already fallen, there is no more path downwards.I am younger than you, so I am here to apologize. Sorry, if I hurt you in anyway.

@ Jyothi,

Come on ,not inspiration. I did feel a bit sad and unhappy for the tug of war . And considering you being much younger , perhaps I should have stayed away, from infuriating you. You see wisdom dawns late when you are old.
No one has fallen. Listen this is a forum for open discussion , it can be arguments too. And at the end of the day if we in any way get personal, that tells our immaturity , be it an older man like I or Balachandran or young pretty woman like you.
Dont you feel that when we get provoked by a comment which is against our closely held views it is better to think and analyse? We may be sometimes proven wrong then admit it , sometimes we may be right then put the point across forcefully. And if we cannot reason a matter with the available facts , then "suspend" our judgement.
These are my opinion.
And again there is no need for remorse please. Let us get more lively subjects to claw at one another. We are not at war we are here to agree and disagree in a civilised way other than waging war.
Hope to see you often.

Anil,
Thats the true blogging spirit.Like everything else in life, this too, will pass.

I once wrote something about a blogger I respect, and regretted later. I apologized many times, still,I feel bad about it.

All my sadness disappeared when Balachandran gave me the award. "The fart award".
Happy blogging !
