Musings over Easter Weekend

Sharachandra Govindarao Pawar was a clueless non entity till 1967, until when Y.B Chavan roped him into the then National Congress party. He shot into the State and National lime light after the AICC session in Gawhati in 1969. His growth through the State and the echelons at the Center are absolutely amazing. So is the booty, the wealth he amassed. He is alleged ( alleged because until one can be proved guilty) to have close links with the underworld Don, Dawood. He  has a finger in every pie! The recent price turbulence of onion, cotton, the past rise in prices of sugar, the IPL plunder, the Lavas deals, were all it is alleged, masterminded by him, in cahoots with the hoarders, accomplices and barons of sleaze..Remember he was also the defence minister ! He has the rare success in presiding over the ministry of agriculture when he ensured that there was maximum number of farmer suicides in India. His attitude towards the peril of debt ridden farmers and their plight was insensate, and hardhearted.  His nexus with big fertiliser Corporations is a known matter. And recently he has gone on record that India must export food grains and let the food grain market be opened to international trading. Remember this when we are still with a massive percentage of the population below poverty levels. And public distribution is still inadequate and inefficient in most states. He gloated over food grains rotting in warehouses.Reminds us in total of the Emperors of the ancient who presided over vast lands and playing fiddle when men and women in thousands lay famished and their life ebbing away.

And finally, now he has refused a blanket ban on the toxic pesticide Endosulfan ,citing trivial and frivolous reasons. He is blinded to the fact of  its lethal and  biologically mutating nature. And, is as expected seconded by the pliable spineless Prime minister we have.  Do each citizen of this country have to taste a teaspoon of Endosulfan to determine the greater effect it will have on the general population for it to be banned? Indeed he is the brand ambassador for Endosulfan. And it is rubbish and naive to expect anything from him that is inimical to the manufacturers of toxins.

The man is seventy plus and has amassed much wealth that would amaze even the Gods. And he still craves for more for more....! His appetite and lust for wealth will belittle the ravens craving for meal.
His contorted face, which is  facially paralytic , evokes contempt, revulsion and distress.

None will touch him, because in the present government he holds the deck of cards ( MPs)to derail the government. And the power of wealth  will not let nemesis near him."The chickens will not come back to roost".

**********************************************************************************

Gods own country has now something new to offer. "Cesarean Mella".
The report of two gynecologists in a hospital in Alleppy performing twenty one cesarean sections in two days is certainly a boost to the tourism’ possibilities in the state of Kerala. It may also  assist  a rare entry into the annals of the Guinness book.
Yet again a section of the fraternity of ( Physicians) have proved that ethics, morality, compassion and the wisdom Hippocratic oath inspire  is trivialised and rubbished.

“I SWEAR by Apollo the physician, Aesculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgement, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation.
To reckon............, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous. I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give a woman a pessary to produce abortion.
WITH PURITY AND WITH HOLINESS I will pass my life and practice my Art............,Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves”.
WHILE I CONTINUE to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times! But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot".

It is said that the two doctors were haste fully wanting to depart for the Easter weekend vacation. And they did not want calls at odd times to ruin their merriment over Easter weekend. Caesarean sections were performed on hapless women whose gestation period was still two weeks and more away to reach a full cycle. And now the inadequate facility at the hospital will have to bear another twenty one unenviable new born. A threat or possibility of infections and complications can be imagined. Disconcerting indeed!

Kerala has a third of child births through caesarean section. While the all India average is just 8 percent. And WHO recommended figure 15 percent.
Hallelujahs  to the Gynaecologists !

His contorted face, which is facially paralytic , evokes contempt, revulsion and distress...where as whenever I see that, certain other unlucky faces of similar nature (minus the stubborn, crooked)comes into mind.If there is a God somewhere,It's nothing but only TRUTH.What if people are not worried about that ? They are still into the same job. That applies to doctors as well.Being the so called 'spritual' coutry, let us blame 'karma' or the inevitable KALI !

I always thought the looks on that man's face shows his personality. There is greed and hatred on it.
You said it right. There is nothing in India in to which he has not put his fingers. From endosulfan to cricket he has his tool in to everything. He deserves the grandma's justice I wrote about.

I was just thinking of writng on this caessarian spree when I saw it in today's news papers. It is appalling. It is criminal and insane.
Forget the oaths which even the politicians take when they reach power.I was just thinking what kind of punishments these people deserve.Availabe laws will let them loose, because they have all holes. The govt is going to punish them by transfering them to other hospitals, where they would be free to continue the butchery.Their licenses should be revoked so that they will not do such deeds again.

The greed for money is so addicting.I dont know what kind of wives these women would make !

It is worth while doing a survey on the caessarian rates in private hospitals. The rates of caessarian has gone up in par with the increasing number of private hospitals in Kerala. But who will do anything? In documents, I am sure they will all show some genuine indications for the operation, and will easily get away.

We are ruled by a mafia, which is controlled by money. And if you have money, you can get away with anything in this place.

Greed .. the thing is We all know these leaders are corrupt then WHY do we vote for them ..
ANd pawar If i beleive the media was supposed to be part of Anna Hazaare's Group which raises furthur eyebrow's nad Now he is not so he is targetted..
Remaining on that topic tell me one MP whi is NOT corrupt. Every one is part of this some might take less but they are all the same .

and a you say he is so old , we in india should have a rule that after a particular age all mp's shud retire and maybe then some things will get restored.

ANd I like @Dr. Antony's idea of the grandmothers revenge, Yeah so true ...

I doubt if things will change .. cause youth is too busy watching the IPL :)

Anil,

thanks for this post. I have always thought this man is a one-man army in his ways. The face shows enough of his character. Wicked, greedy and ruthless.

He has manipulated the system wherever he was.

@ melange
I do not know about this theory of Karma etc is of any substance. If I say yes and know then that will evoke
unwanted response.
One thing is substantiated by men like Pawar, that is that you can be the God and the Destroyer or both in one if you have the money. matters of ethics, so called spirituality, morality, and conscientiousness is nonsensical.

@ doc antony,

I guess that we need is not Anna Hazares , but that grandma with a shot gun. These people like Pawar are like limpets they stick on and thrive.
We can fantasize people like the Grandma coming forth and blasting his balls away. At least some sort of hallucinated satisfaction!!!

@ Bikramajit,

Yes we can suggest Doc Antony to make a trip down under and rope in the Granny.
You see the problem here in this country is that if one decides to opinion expressively people may cry wolf and some may even ridicule the triviality in doing so.They may ask, "Do you expect to change the status quo: nonsense you are fretting and making your condition bad".

@ Insignia,
System? It is we who created these people. Brought about conducive environment for these men to grow.
His lot are many all around. One passed away yesterday!
I wonder why you need the pomp and show to serve the needy as they claim.

Anil @ an honest post about a man who has been part of almost everything that makes money in India.. hope none of his ardent followers think otherwise.. I keep telling my friends, benevolent autocracy is much better than democracy for India.. at least if the King is bad, you have an option of shooting one person and hoping to see a shift in governance.. but with democracy, the people we have to shoot just outnumbers the arsenal we have and even if we shoot, there are always more to follow...

The caessarian spree was plain crazy.. i have seen people in my office, wrap up work for the weekend on friday so that they don't get dragged to office on a saturday, but now our docs took it to a whole new level..now this is what i say as truly devoted - to themselves.. only if they had a trace of the devotion, for others as well..

I fully endorse Ousu about benevolent autocracy being better alternative to democracy.

Today it is in the newspapers that Kalmadi and Kanimozhi have been chargesheeted by the CBI. I pray the day will not be too far away when it happens to Pawar too.

anilkurup59 said...

In an autocratic system there is nothing called benevolence. Remember that. Any 'Man' , any individual who has unlimited and unquestionable authority will not have seeds of benevolence. In such a state he dose not have to be foolish enough to dispense benevolence.
This is the order of history and will be the rule of the future.
We cannot say that democracy is sham or nonsense. Say Indian form of democracy is sham and one has a point. It is only because there is something called democracy that we, ( I and all of you could discuss , speak on such matters and the rouges like Sharad Pawar).
What has failed here is not democracy, but the people. The people including us failed the Indian experiment with Democracy. We create and perpetuate the Pawars, The Kalmadis, The Karunanidhis etc .
We get what we deserve and we do, we did!

Anil @ benevolent autocracy is just an idea that i been toying with.. i too understand that it is almost next to impossible for benevolence and autocracy to go hand in hand.. i remember a line by political philosopher, "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" and this lead to the doctrine of separation of powers in the sovereign..
but speaking from an anarchist perspective to bring about equality, social and economic, forgetting the political equality, autocracy is a better option as der are few peoples to be shot...

Mr B @ even i smiled reading the report of Kannimozhi and kalmadi being charge sheeted..have kept ma fingers crossed wanting to see how the investigation and trial goes... hope pawar and scores of others are to follow.. but the scary part is, if all the corrupted ones are to be thrown in jail, i fear there wouldnt be many left in the center or the state governments...

anilkurup59 said...

@ Osu,
For argument sake its fine. And still fun to think there are few balls to be blasted - autocracy( benevolent is voted for )
But in reality that is not the case.
As for the high profile charge sheets , keep fingers crossed and sceptical. Because Indian democracy is such that no single politician and wealthy sob has been found guilty and sentenced in Independent India.
So there are no criminals and crime in this wonderful country. Then where have all the money gone?

As per the Economics Inteligence Unit, the India Democracy is a flawed democracy.

The index values are used to place countries within one of four types of regime: 1. Full democracies—scores of 8-10
2. Flawed democracies—score of 6-7.9
3. Hybrid regimes—scores of 4-5.9 4 Authoritarian regimes—scores below

it says..
Political culture is still relatively weak However, India fares much worse in the political participation and political culture categories. The existence of the "argumentative Indian" may facilitate public debate, but this does not necessarily translate into a high level of political participation.

Taking expectant mothers for a ride is very common among Gynes. (I know a few who are true to their profession, but they are really few)

As for S Pawar, the less said the better.
The only judgement where he faltered was regarding Sonia Gandhi. He though the whole nation would back him when he called her a non Indian.......and he fell flat.
It took him some time to get up.

anilkurup59 said...

@ Haddock

The profession - physician- is business oriented and much devoid of ethics and compassion. This is what it is increasingly becoming .

AS for Pawar it doesnt really matter what he thinks of Sonia Gandhi. But his thieving, robbing and plunder of public money is what matters.
